My vehicle is registered in a small Texas county, who could care less with only one red light (LOL), not Dallas county. I am absolutely NOT the violator. Requesting a hearing and attending would cost me more than $75.00, plus an extreme hardship, ie..leaving my 85yro dad who can't walk all day, 6 hrs of driving round trip, gas, etc. .All for something I did not do and don't know who did. My vehicle was apparently taken/stolen in Garland, Tx while I was asleep and returned before I woke. I was just visiting. Garland Police refuses to make a stolen vehicle report when there is evidence my vehicle was taken without my consent. According to the instructions, I could simply fill out an affidavit that it was stolen & mail it. But to do this, I MUST submit a "police report", which is refused.
Something is missing from this story, Request a picture of the red light violation,
Speaking as a former police officer, Garland PD is not going to make a stolen vehicle report when there is no evidence that the vehicle was stolen, other than the red light camera ticket. As my colleague stated, ask for the photos (and also ask for video, many red light cameras also have that). If you can make out the driver, you may be able to proceed in contesting it.
Your best option may be to simply pay the ticket. It would cost less than any of your other options.
Sounds like maybe you answered your question. Depends how important it is to you to fight the camera ticket. ....is it worth more than $75 to you as a matter of principle to fight? Up to you.
