I have a court date on this Monday. What can be the expected fines on those tickets. How can i proceed further without taking any attorney.
I changed the practice area from "State & Local" government to something more appropriate.
The answer provided above does not create an attorney-client relationship. The information provided here is informational and educational only and does not constitute legal advice. This answer is limited by the information provided by you, and you should consult an attorney for a specific and thorough review before taking any action. Expired plates (registration) & speeding are both “petty” offenses that carry fines from $0 to $1,000. + ct costs. Renew your registration before ct and they may drop that one. The speeding fine will depend upon your driving record and your level of cooperation w the police officer. In any case having a lawyer is affordable and ALWAYS a good idea. Good Luck!
No attorney can make a prediction, promise or an assurance of any particular outcome. Each case rises or falls on its own particular facts. The answers provided to these online questions are general in nature and may or may not apply to you and your situation. As in most cases there are many facts and circumstances that the lawyers are not aware of or that the asker has failed to disclose. Therefore, for the best answer to your question you should not rely on these online replies but you should have an “in person” consultation with a well qualified, highly experienced attorney in the field of law for your inquiry. Online questions and answers do not establish either an attorney - client relationship nor does it create a relationship of confidentiality. Posting information on line may prejuduce you and may prejudice your case.
Just show up in court with proof of valid registration and see what they offer. The fines are not going to be anywhere near $2000 like you are worried about and if you can’t pay it all at once the judge will give you time
