Got in an argument at my girlfriend's house the other day she slammed the bedroom door on me. I broke the door and then I left. I've then received a call from a city of Marietta police officer explaining to me that I needed to turn myself in or there's going to be a warrant for my arrest. He told me that he knows I didn't hit her but he is telling me I need to report to be arrested? I don't know what to do?
First thing I will say is before you do anything, contact a lawyer immediately!! Then go down to the police department and when you are there, don't answer their questions. The only thing you need to say is you need to see your attorney. Your attorney will handle it from there.
The first thing you need to do is hire a lawyer. Then you and your lawyer will make plans for you to turn yourself in. If there is an active warrant for your arrest, that is the only thing that you can do at this point. Then you and your lawyer can prepare your defense.
Since there is an active warrant for your arrest you need to turn yourself in to custody as your failure to do so will only be held against you. But just because you get arrested doesn’t mean you’re guilty so hire a lawyer to fight the case.
