My wife ( US Citizen ) filed Last week of December 2017 and got a schedule for Biometrics January 3rd. After that we haven’t heard anything from USCIS. How long does it usually take for the interview schedule?
I was ( father ) an overstay too and got an interview schedule 2 weeks after Biometrics. Took 3 months to get my Green Card. I thought petitioning a minor is faster.
You have to wait for the process to take it’s course, one month is nothing to complain or worry about.
The scheduling is not faster for children. See the USCIS website for processing time
Most (if not all) petitions are slowed since the new administration took over. Wait times for I-130's are over a year in many cases as are SIJ I-360's. To find out the current processing time for your specific petition type and processing center, check USCIS.gov and best of luck to you.
