I came to US as International student 9 years ago after being persecuted for political reason. I applied for political asylum after completing my education in 2014. I am working for state government in C08 pending asylum EAD and don't have any criminal or any bad record. Recently, I have been reading news that people with pending asylum who shows up for interview are being detained. It got me nervous and curious if it happens to all the people or happens in some case only? Can someone please tell me about it?
It is possible that they may be detaining pending asylum applicants who show up for an interview, but that may depend on the region and how ICE operates in that region. It is best that you contact an immigration attorney in your area should you need further advice or an attorney to attend an interview with you.
