I just recently bought a motorcycle, the same night i bought it, i was pullled over . Obviously i had no insurance or the license yet. So the officer gave a ticket that charged me for driving without proper endorsement and driving without insrance, so now i have court, which i will attend. But i was wondering what i am going to be penalized for... I have no prior criminal record, but one traffic charge which took two points off my license. What can be my possible outcome??
You motorcycle is a motor vehicle under Colorado law. Before driving any motor vehicle, you must have insurance covering it. The charge carries 4 points, 40 hours UPS, a mandatory fine, and considerable court costs. Get insurance to cover the vehicle and present that to the DA when you go to court. They will probably either offer you a point reduction to a 2-point defective vehicle or defer the NPOI charge so that it does not get reported against your record and your license does not get suspended. The same thing is true about the license endorsement. Get the motorcycle endorsement added to your license and show the DA that as well. They will likely cut you a deal on that as well.
