I am 15 in California. My parents recently pulled me aside and said that since I have bad grades (they really are bad), that they will put me to work. This is where the tricky part comes in. My school has a requirement that you need a certain GPA to work as a minor. My parents told me that if my school doesn’t approve my work permit they will drop me from High School. After that they would force me to get a full time job, and pay them $50 monthly for things they are legally required to provide. Things like food and shelter. I wanted to see my options, and am not to crazy about calling CPS but willing to consider. I was hoping I could talk to a family member, I’m just worried my parents somehow got them on board with this idea.
Why don't you talk with a your teachers or guidance counselor and find out what you need to do to get your grades up. Why are your grades so bad?
