I was parked at a Wal-Mart. When I came out I had a ticket on the windshield. The fine is $250 for an expired l$100 license plate sticker. I feel $250 is excessive! The $250 was written on the ticket. $300 after the due date. I don't live in the village where I received the ticket.
Sometimes fines can be high. In some circumstances, tickets for equipment violations and the like can be dismissed or reduced with proof that the issue has been corrected. Thats about the only consolation I can offer.
Unfortunately, it is what it is., You may feel the fine is excessive but you let your plates lapse. If you have a court date option, come to court and see if they will dismiss the case upon proof that you have purchased your renewal tag.
Although AVVO describes this site as providing free legal advice, it is really a simple Q&A forum. The volunteer attorneys provide general answers. No specific legal advice is given here and no attorney-client relationship is established. For precise direction and legal advice, please consult in person with an attorney in your area. Be sure to bring all relevant paperwork with you.
A uniform citation would only be 125, mailed in. If this was an Ordinance violation, I'm wondering if you got hit for no village auto registration as well. How do you know they want $250.00?
