I am trying to obtain copies of my own medical records, including new patient questionnaire forms that I filled out when I saw a new Dr. The Dr office won't return my calls or emails. I'm not entirely sure I understand the verbiage under RCW 70.02.080 but does this RCW protect my right to have access to my own files? Is it legal for this Dr to deny/ignore my requests for copies of my own records?
Multiple state and federal regulations provide you the right to copies of your medical records. Tell them to provide the records in a certain amount of time or you will report the physician to the Medical Quality Assurance Commisssion.
If my response helped you, please say so by marking it "helpful." Nevertheless, this is not legal advice and my answer does not create an attorney-client relationship.
