Since my daughter was born (almost 7 years ago) I've been sending her mother money through money gram every month. On the money gram receipt it asks what the money is for and every paper it's been stated as child support. My last apartment I had everything stolen from my apartment including all the money gram receipts. I was told I can still call money gram and they would have all the paper work that I've sent through out the years. Long story short she's now saying she's gonna take me to court for court ordered child support and collect back pay saying she's gonna tell the judge I've never paid her anything. Would those receipts be proof that I have paid all these years? I'm also not on the birth certifate or have ever had a DNA test. I've only been able to see my daughter 4 times and only get to talk to her when her mother feels like letting me. Also she's never lived in the same state as me either. I just don't wanna get screwed over when I've been doing the right thing the last 7 years!
Will your receipts be proof that you have paid? Yes, and they will also prove that the child's mother is a liar and lacks credibility which will hurt her in any future proceedings concerning this child (if she actually swears that you never paid anything and you can prove otherwise). As to the rest, not being on the birth certificate, not getting a DNA test, and not being allowed to see or speak to a child you are supporting is YOUR fault. If you want a relationship with this child beyond meeting your financial obligation, then you need to file a Petition to Establish Paternity in the state where the child resides, have the court order you put on the birth certificate (after DNA testing), and get a visitation schedule established by court order. Then if your ex doesn't follow court orders there can be consequences.
