Where can I find the new law for Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide Detectors in CT?
I am over 60 yrs old and rent a townhouse. There is only 1 Smoke Detector at the top of the stairs (second floor). There are none in either of the 2 bedrooms on the second floor and there are none on the first floor where the kitchen and living room are.
There are none in the basement.
There are no Carbon Monoxide Detector at all.
Is this legal?
The landlord canceled the furnace service contract and said that I cannot deduct bills that I incur to have the furnace fixed unless she approves it. Can she leave me without heat? What if there is a Carbon Monoxide issue?
What can I do without being evicted? Do I have any rights as a tenant over 60 and paying the rent on time every month?
First contact your municipal agencies, fire, building & health with your complaints. Once registered, you no longer pay your rent to LL. Then, you use these conditions as a defense.
