I have been living in a nyc rent stabilized apartment for the past 6 months. I signed my copy of the stabilized lease and returned it to the broker, but I never received the signed copy by the landlord back in the mail. The management office doesn't answer phones and super always seems to forget when I ask him to check. Is this a problem? I have been paying rent on time and I do have a scanned copy of the pages I signed, but how do I know they didn't alter the lease or withheld certain documents?
You need to file a failure to renew lease complaint with the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal. The form is available on their website.
