I am a doctor. I am currently working on an H1b visa status. My residency starts on July Ist, & its on a J1 visa. so I need to change my status from within the USA to J1 from my H1b.
How long does it take to change the status ? What Do I need to do ?
will I loose my H1b status rite away after filing my J1 visa ?
& Can I continue working on my current job which requires an h1b ?Well my University & residency program is offering only J1 visas starting this year so thats why i have to take J1 only
It can take 3-4 months to change your status. You need to file for a change of status. Your H-1b status will change if and when your J-1 petition is approved . You can work on your H-1b until your J-1 is approved.. if it is approved.
Why do you want to switch to J-1?
