My wife is on misdemeanor probation and has 2 failed ua's. They told her she can take 6 months crtc or a MTR. I'm gna obtain her a lawyer tmrw and I told her not to sign anything until she speaks to the lawyer. Can a lawyer help get her a lesser sentence or maybe even reinstated. She has paid all her fines up to date and has almost completed all her community service and classes
Yes, a lawyer CAN help do those things. There are no guarantees, obviously, but it's worth the investment to try when those are the options they're offering.
She might not get reinstated or a lesser sentence with a lawyer, but she sure as hell ain't getting it without a lawyer. Good luck.
An attorney MAY be able to reduce the plea offer from the State but understand no lawyer can work magic. There are either defenses to any allegation or not. If your wife has violated the terms of her probation, your attorney may be going into a knife fight with a slingshot. Good luck.
