2nd offense DUI in Virginia. Lead to felony charge for leaving scene of accident. Plead guilty. Paid fines, served limited jail time, Virginia driver's license suspension 3 years. That's been over 10 plus years ago. Also ordered to VASAP Classes, but never went, and never got Virginia driver's license reinstated. Now a resident of North Carolina, want to get NC Drivers license. Does the situation in Virginia affect me getting NC License? Not sure how to proceed.
Hi. I reiresebt many VA drivers and have seen this before. You didn’t complete VASAP and that matters regardless of how many years ago you were ordered to take the class. VADMV will have you suspended till you’ve completed all their requirements. And if VADMV has you suspended , NCDMV is unable to issue you a license until VADMV requirements have been satisfied abd VADMV clears you to be relicensed there.
