A lawyer took the case. we went in to mediation but failed to reach a settlement. now I'm been told that I have a counter claim for a bunch of false (BS) and that I will need to go in to a deposition next week. when I asked my lawyer how to best prepare for this he told me If I agreed he could ask for a ridicules low amount of money before the deposition. because he thinks that at the deposition the case could turn the other way . the button line is he said that because now I have a counter claim. and we didn't agree on this. he might drop the case if I don't go forward whit the sum his proposing or else I have to pay him $300 an hr to defend me against this counter claim. I already got one claim dismiss by the police after I presented evidence. I need advice thank you althe counter claim is because he claims my brother lived their whit me so he is entitle to rent money from him . but he new my brother was going to leave whit me from the start it was a 2 bedroom apartment and only 3 people lived their . the manager before me had 5 people living whit him . he also claims for some damages cause to the managers unit like a burn carpet holes in the walls but when I moved there I had to paint and repair this unit . he also claims I stole some tools but I was the one to leave some of my own tools besides I was never given an inventory . my mistake was that I hire an attorney that just had acquire his license it was to late because he was assign to the case after I had sign the fee agreement whit this firm. I really don't like the Idea of going to a disposition whit out any help from him. I'm willing to send more info to an experienced lawyer I have all the documents pertaining this legal matter
