If someone wishes to change their name for the 2nd time through the court system in New Jersey, do they have to file a new case or can they just go back and amend the previous name change. Previous name change happened a year ago.
It is a new case and all the procedures must be followed. For pretty obvious reasons, the court wants to ensure that name changes are not done to avoid criminal histories or sex abuser charges, or other unethical things, from following a person.

You must file a new case and you should be prepared to substantiate good, legal reasons for the change
