Hi , I have been a Green Card holder for 10yrs with no travels outside of US for more than 3 weeks. I submitted by N400 application with the Dallas- Tx office in Sept 2016. I completed my bio-metric appointment in OCT 2016. Its been 6 months since i had by biometrics done. How long is the waiting time for the Naturalization Test (the interview) after the bio metrics are taken? when I check the USCIS website it shows that as of Jan 2017 they are still processing for May 2016.
My Green Card is set to expire in Dec 2017. Please advise, on what should i do? Should I go ahead and start the renewal process for my Green card as well. I am just concerned, what if my N400 interview / process doesnt get completed prior to my Green Card expiring.
Please advise. Thanks a lot.
It takes a long time ... but it will probably happen before December. If it hasn't happened by November, make an info pass appointment and get your passport stamped with a temporary greencard ... they'll do it for free since you filed for naturalization more than 6 months before the card expires.

If you filed the FORM N-400 in September 2016, typically an appointment will be issued within a year in most jurisdictions. You may not need to request the I-551 stamp from the local USCIS office if you do not have any complications with your case. Good luck to you.
