She is in the process of being tested for a kidney donation out of state. She just got back today and missed her mandantory court date. She was covered and has proof of insurance. Apparantly the judge issued a warrant with a $1000 bond? What should we do?citation was issued in Denver Co.
If she had proof of insurance on the date that she was ticketed for failing to provide proof of insurance, all she needs to do is to show that to the DA or city attorney and they are required to dismiss the charge under the NPOI statute. If she failed to appear, she should go to court as soon as possible and ask for the court to vacate the BW and give her a new court date. The DA will most likely discuss a possible point reduction in the traffic violation.
Have her turn herself in and ask that the warrant be quashed. Bring proof that she was out of state for medical reasons and bring proof of insurance with to Court. Ask that the illegal turn ticket be reduced to a 0 pt offense with a fine. You should not need an attorney for this. If you do not feel comfortable handling this on our own, feel free to call my office. My staff or I will explain the process in more detail to you and you can then decide how you want to handle this.
