My mom recently passed away and I bought her truck from my sisters because per her will she left it to us 3 girls to sell. Before I could change the title and registration it was stolen outside my apartment. it was recovered 1 week later at 420 am when officer called however I was asleep. So it got impounded. The next day when I called the impound they explained all the legal paperwork I needed in order to get the truck. Well that took a week due to my moms Executor living out of town. So now the total is close to 500 dollars to get out. Is this legal?
If the truck was legally impounded, yes. If this was one of many impoundment scams, probably not. See an attorney right away. The daily charges are growing every day you delay.
