Is there anyway to find out if someone is using you to hoard money from various agencies using yourself and your kids?
This is much more than just a "Tax" question, so I have redirected this question to the AVVO area called Divorce & Separation so more lawyers who can possibly help you will respond.
Has a Dissolution of Marriage action been filed with the court? You refer to the other party as your "spouse," and state he hired an attorney. If there is a divorce pending, you need to retain an attorney to guide you through the process. Depending on the circumstances, your spouse may be ordered to pay your temporary attorney's fees and/or temporary spousal support (alimony).
You also mention your sons. If you and your spouse are still married, but no longer living together, than you should be receiving child support for any minor children residing with you.
Unfortunately, I cannot offer a more detailed answer based on the limited information you have provided. I strongly recommend that you schedule a consultation with a family law attorney in your area. Be sure to bring copies of any court documents and/or orders that have been filed to date.
