I contacted the SOS and they said i need to pay the $250 for my suspended license. I never had a illinois license but i had a Oregon one at the time of me being charged with a DUI that wasn't a Conviction. I want to know if i pay this fee do i have to take the written test and all that jazz? its only been a year? The SOS DUI section said pay the fee and on the SOS website does not mention anything about a test after reinstatement fee is given.
You have to pay the reinstatement fee because almost every DUI is two cases and not one. The first, the underlying DUI, you took care of by probably getting Court Supervision. That's great but the SECOND case is the Statutory Summary Suspension, operative word being "SUSPENSION." You pay the fee to clear your suspension. From there, you are treated like any other driver from a foreign state holding a valid license. The licensing requirements are the licensing requirements. If you have time left on your Oregon license, I think you just have fill out the application and take the eye test. Oh, there is probably one thing different for you, but it has nothing to do with testing. I'm pretty sure you're hooked for SR22 coverage for three years.
