We were in visa extension process, but I am not sure that it's still on-going as my husband who had the L1 left his work. My L2 expired on July 12 but I have the valid EAD and I want to do a few months project for a US consulting company. Can you please let me know if it's possible?
If your husband is no longer on L status, then your L2 dependent status, including the EAD, is no longer valid.

You and your spouse need to immediately leave the U.S. or file for a change of status to a nonimmigrant status prior to July 12 if I understand your facts. Not sure when your spouse left the company but if he is working until July 12 then this will work.
Can I work for a US company without valid L2?
