Married 18 years ago, husband has been in and out of the home, mostly out for the past 3 years. He is listed on the deed and is suffering from bipolor and is dually addicted. We have a 13 year old son who has been exposed to his drama with an other woman he has been involved with for at least 10 years. He has neither contributed to the home, paid any bills or supported our son.
He has filed for bankruptcy and has informed me since he is not living home the courts will place a lein on the home. What recourse if any do I have? I have always worked and struggle to give my son a good life.
You definitely need to consult with a family law attorney to discuss your specific situation. The courts do start with the presumption that everything will be split in half, but there are ways to ask for offsets. It would be more appropriate to discuss this directly with an attorney.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals.
