My husband (USC) and I married in December. He filed the tax return for that year as single by mistake.
Now we are applying for a green card for me. Would this mistake greatly impact my AOS application? We are in the process of amending the tax return but it will take a long time.
Generally, we have not found amended tax returns prepared by tax professionals to take a long time.
Single filing may not be a problem as most spousal sponsorships are taking almost 2 years. This years tax return can state married.
