We were divorced 5 years ago my ex in the divorce decree was told to pay 80000 within 90 days he has not he has paid a 1000 hear 4000 there but nowhere close to 80000 what can I do if anything
Hire an attorney to file a motion for enforcement. Whenever you file you’re probably only going to be able to claim for two to four years back, so the longer you wait the more money you lose.
Accepting cases in Dallas, Denton, Collin and Tarrant Counties. THIS IS GENERAL ADVICE AND DOES NOT REPLACE A PERSONAL CONSULTATION WITH AN ATTORNEY AND DOES NOT ESTABLISH AN ATTORNEY/CLIENT RELATIONSHIP
If I am telling you things you already know, forgive me. Apply for OAG services for tax refund intercept and passport suspension remedies by the federal government. If possible retain private family law counsel to enforce your orders more aggressively. Your attorney fees and costs can be recovered as additional support.
Thomas J. Baker of Baker & Tisdale PLLC principally practices in the Central Texas area, including Bell, Coryell, Lampasas, McLennan, Milam and Williamson counties. The advice given here is not and ahould not be taken as a substitute for in-personal consultation with counsel, particularly where legal documents, such as court orders need to be reviewed. I am Board-Certified in Family Law but not in any other areas of practice.
Ms. Laster and Mr. Baker give sound counsel. The longer you wait, the harder to enforce. Did the Decree include a judgment? Was the judgment abstracted and filed in Deed Records in all counties where your ex might have property?
You need to hire an attorney -- this one simply cannot be solved in this public forum. Use the Avvo app to find a good family lawyer active in San Angelo.
Good luck to you.
Elisa Maloff Reiter, Esq. is accepting cases in Dallas, Denton, Collin, Rockwall and Tarrant Counties.
