I am divorced and now Im living outside the country. My ex is taking me back to family court to try to enforce a DRO. I was just notified today that I have a hearing scheduled in two weeks. I cannot and will not be at that hearing to defend myself. I was notified by email.
they know I am out of the country and cant be in court. They even stated that in the complaint.
They can do this. The court still has jurisdiction over you. You can hire an attorney and appear by phone. If your ex is trying to enforce an order, it may be enforced by the court without your input. It is in your interest to present your case in court. If you have violated a court order, your ex has a right to ask the court to enforce it.
