I was with a friend we had smoked not in the car, but prior to driving. I got pulled over, and the officer suspected me of being under the influence, he charged me with dwai and some traffic violations, do i need a lawyer? or when i go to court will it be dropped to something else? My driving history is clean, just want to expect if i need a lawyer or looking at probation or something, thank you.
You have been charged with a serious misdemeanor which could land you jail for up to one year and cause you to loose your driving privileges for at least a year not to mention the significant fine, surcharge and assessment imposed upon conviction. Therefore, I highly suggest you retain an experienced DWI attorney without any further delay. I also suggest you start exercising your right to remain silent.

Driving while intoxicated is a misdemeanor offense that, if you were to be convicted, could come with a jail sentence of up to one year. There will also be significant ramifications on your ability to drive in the short and longer term. You need an attorney to walk you through the process and advise you in the best course.
