my daughter is being sued by a guy she was in a car accident with 2 years ago. he has now filed a civil suit.. we live in south carolina and the case was filed in san antonio texas. the insurance company is still dealing with this guy. what do i need to do and if they place a judgment on her what does that mean.
Simply cooperate with the insurance company and assigned counsel. Ask them point blank if you have legitimate concerns. Also, consider speaking with an attorney in South Carolina first to hire as personal counsel.
Contact your insurance counsel and let them know your daughter has been sued. They will assign defense counsel for you and defend her free of charge. If the potential value of the claim is within the insurance policy limits, she should be all right. If it is a serious injury and there is not enough insurance to cover it, then your daughter should consider getting outside personal counsel. Talk to the insurance company first and go from there. Good luck.
