My dad recently passed away and I have a copy of his will. I was to get a collection of letters put together by the chief of police and also listed is other police items that chief Phillips put together. (My dad was a police officer for 28 years. I cannot get her to send a picture or give me information as to when I will receive these items, she will not respond to me In addition, I was to get the first choice of his fishing equipment. His spouse my stepmother said her grandchildren have been using it and it is in the pontoon in storage, so I have to wait. Also, there were to be watches divided up and my one sister had first choice and my other sister and I were to choose out of the remaining watches and if we did not agree we were to draw straws, this never went down as stated I was just given a watch. What can I do about this
The personal representative named in the will must go about distributing the property and administering the estate per the will, and quite possible with the supervision of the court if need be. If the will is not being followed or you feel the personal representative is not doing their duty, you may be able to file a probate action in court to push things along. I recommend speaking with an attorney.
