I inherited a home from my father. the house burned in the n.calif. fire and I just noticed my brother forged the deed. my brother deeded the house to me and our father who has been dead for appx. 6 years; the deed was forged after that. I can not collect on the homeowners policy until I get this settled
Your problem can't be solved in this question and answer forum. You will have to consult with an attorney, and provide all the relevant paperwork. Depending on the underlying facts, (such as it turning out to be an error on your brother's part, but not a forgery) it may be as simple as your brother issuing a correction deed. More likely, some court action, such as an action to quite title, will be necessary.
You need a lawyer to write a very firm letter to your brother inform him of the errors of his ways. if that does not work, you need to file a lawsuit for Quiet Title and Fraud. there is a time limit of 3 years from when learned of the fraud in which to file your case.
