I had my valid drivers license and they would not let me take the vehicle is their anyway I can fight this and we get the car sooner??
Sorry to hear about this. The police will only release the vehicle to the registered owner and will require proof of insurance as well. Who is the registered owner of the vehicle? Sounds like your b/f needs to retain an experienced criminal defense attorney at well. Best wishes.

They did not have to release the car to you. Depending on what your boyfriend was charged with, the impound was most likely proper.
Only the registered owner can get the vehicle out of impound. Sometimes they will let it out early, but in your boyfriend's case he will have to take care of his suspended license first.
If you get the car back sooner will you b/f be driving it on his suspended license? No matter how you answer guess which way the police are leaning with their answer. Guess what their position will be. You could benefit from meeting with an attorney. Even if you decide not to hire the attorney the consultation with him or her could help you to understand the issues and your options. Many attorneys offer a free consultation. I wish you the best and Happy Holidays
