I am in the middle of a divorce. on 4/10/18 my attorney told me he was sick and i had to find another attorney. i collected my file from his office on 4/17/18 and was told that the retainer of $10k was sent directly by the bank to me. I never got the check. I called multiple times and was given different answers. on giving them an ultimatum was told that my attorney had passed away on 4/20/18 and it would take time to get the check. a few days later was told that the check would be issued the following week. it's july and i have not received my check and nobody responds anymore. what do i do. i just found out that my attorney had cancer which was never revealed and on ethical grounds he should not have taken my case . in 8 months he charged me he charged me $38,864.15 with no progress and each time i questioned he would blame the other counsel. i have been in an abusive relationship for 23 years and may 2017 ran out of the house with my 2 daughters with nothing but our clothes. i had sponsored my husband, put him through dental school, helped him to buy his own practice, furnished the family home. It's a year and i am still struggling.
