the only evidence is her roommates and her boyfriends allegation that he threaten them with a pocket knife and police report .
should he try to do deposition and get lesser sentence or accept 2 year probation ( non conviction )?
what happen after 2 year probation?
he is in miami private college, will the charge haunt him if he decide transfer college to his home state or his future employment ?
He should not consider any pkea until he has a long discussion with his criminal attorney about his options. His decision can impact his future
From your question it doesn't sound like he has a lawyer, or, if he does, the lawyer may need more money to take depositions and you are not sure if it is worth spending the money. Your son is facing a felony. If this is his first offense, and he cares about his record, then he shouldn't spare expenses to try to get the best outcome possible. Even if he gets a withhold of adjudication and probation that will remain on his record unless he qualifies for sealing and expunging the record down the road. If his lawyer believes that it may be worth deposing his accusers, and you can afford to pay the cost, then trust the lawyer and let him/her do their job. Good luck!!!

Without knowing your son's criminal history, whether he made admissions to law enforcement, how many witnesses, what physical evidence (pictures) has been gathered, etc., it is impossible to answer the questions you pose. Your son should get competent legal advice from am attorney who can review the entire case and all the other factors that come into play.
Many other factors must be considered to answer your question with an answer it deserves. Consult and retain an experienced local criminal defense attorney ASAP.
