break lease fee, that they would not turn us in to collections. However, they did send it in to collections. The original lease has been tampered with because we have a copy, and where I was suppose to sign, someone whited out my name and put it in the landlord signature area with the landlord's intials. They added eviction to us on 9-15-2014. I moved out of t he aparment on the 26th of September. They mailed me a paper with the current charges then of being only $1328.00 on 9-15-14. Katy Duncan, Landlord told me that if I would pay this amount that I would not have to worry about it going to collections. I was going to pay, but said they sent it on to collections, however it went into collection 11-2-2014 and they--the apartment complex added additional charges making my total $3626.67
The extra fees they are adding on may not be allowed. You should consult with a landlord/tenant lawyer.
There are several issues here. An attorney would need to read your lease to see what provisions, if any, have been violated by the landlord. Do you have the arrangement you made with the landlord in writing? Did you do a walk-through inspection of the property before you left the unit? What was the purpose of the $3626.67 in charges? A landlord-tenant lawyer would need that information to assist you. Good luck.
