This incident happened around 9pm, along Monterey County on Fwy 101 heading north. I was accused of violating 22349, with an aprox speed of 75mph in a 65mph freeway.
The only way to know for certain is to call one and ask. Here in Los Angeles there are traffic ticket attorneys who charge as little aw $100.00, while others charge up to $1,000.00. Call attorneys in the Monterey County area to ask them if they handle traffic tickets, and how much they charge. Your other option would be to go to traffic school to keep the point off your driving record, as long as it has been 18 months since you last went to traffic school on another ticket.
Probably $150-$350 for a traffic court matter.

It depends on what you want to do. There are several attorneys in California whose business models are to run what I will call state-wide "traffic ticket mills." But please don't misunderstand - I mean that in the nicest possible way. These attorneys know the system and they can help you get the best possible outcome for the lowest possible price (generally less than 500).
If you want more than that - a full-fledged investigation and trial - then it will cost you significantly more.
I encourage folks to be pragmatic about this. The stakes are very low. You're not going to jail and the maximum fine is not much more than the cost of an attorney. So the traffic-ticket mills tend to be a very efficient way to dispose of most cases. If you can find local counsel to do this for a reasonable price, you might get more personalized service.
