She had spent another weekend in hospital and was sent home diagnosed and prescribed meds. While at hospital to pass time and make arrangements obviously feeling deadly she wrote some good byes. Three days later feeling sick after a situation with family members and triggering her symptoms she found a quiet place where she was found hours later sick and in need of medical attention, that she unfortunately did not receive in time.
I am very sorry for your loss.
You have not provided enough information to evaluate. If you feel your sister was the victim of medical negligence you need to hire an attorney willing to investigate the claim. Use the AVVO lawyer finder on this site or Google North Carolina Association for Justice to find a lawyer near you. Medical negligence is basically care and treatment that is below the applicable standard of care that causes injury. The lawyer will gather your sisters records and have them reviewed by a medical expert to make a determination as any standard of care violations. There is no case to pursue unless and until such an opinion is secured.
If you feel this is the "best" answer or is "helpful," please indicate. Since I am limited to the information you provide, I cannot guarantee the accuracy of the answer. You should seek the advise of an attorney who can explore all aspects of your question. This communication does not form an attorney client relationship.
More information is needed to evaluate, but a local malpractice lawyer can order her records to investigate.
Contact a medical malpractice attorney to discuss retention in order to investigate if the facts of your sisters treatment and demise warrant legal representation. Condolences on your loss.
I am sorry for your loss. It's a sad reality in this day and time that sometimes patients don't receive the care and attention they need or deserve. Unfortunately, misdiagnosis and medication errors occur and can have devastating consequences. More information is needed to determine whether your sister was a victim of medical negligence and malpractice. My firm is in Asheville and we have a lot of experience in evaluating and pursuing medical malpractice claims. Let me know if we can help you.
