We have been living in an apartment with furnace heating for 10 years. The other day SOCAL turned off pilot cause furnace is damaged and needs to be fixed. Landlord claims (after visits with electrician) furnace is so old it can’t be fixed, and the area where it’s at is too small to replace with new system. Now she wants to gets space heaters or duct free wall heaters which will cost us way more in electricity bills.
Needing to know if she is allowed to replace furnace heating with wall heaters which we will ow pay huge electric bills for.
Yes, the landlord is only required to provide heat. The landlord is not required to provide you with the heating method of your choice.
