Lawyers paralegal screwed up on closing paperwork. Told us we had to pay$1k, turns out it should have been $6k. House already closed, new owners have taken possession. Closing finished at 10am, paralegal did not call me to 4pm regarding the issue.
Unfortunately these things happen occasionally for a number of reasons, be it a forgotten credit in the contract or because the lender withholds certain amounts or requires the attorney to pass a fee onto a mortgage broker, etc etc. Be sure the lawyer sends a closing statement to you and explains the final closing figures so you can understand the mix up and all your questions are answered satisfactorily.
