Lawyer not responding to client
Our understanding is that the lawyer is to be paid 5% of the estate. How can this happen when he won't return our messages?
Is there something we can do to end this?

The other advice you have been given is excellent. I would also consider explaining to the attorney that if you do not hear from him within the specified time period, you will be forced to report the matter to the bar association. Sometimes, a non-responsive attorney is having his correspondence screened. By doing this, you will be certain to have your correspondence get past the screener.
A few suggestions. First send a fax and also mail it reciting the number of times you have called and the failure to respond. Give the lawyer a deadline to respond, say one day, If no response I would contact the court where the estate is pending and also the lawyer grievance authorities for the State of PA. But I would give the lawyer a chance to respond before taking the steps of complaining. NOTE: This is not legal advice, it is just educational information. No attorney - client relationship is formed through this post. Please consult a local attorney for legal advice.
