Can you get a jury summons and be called to court if you have a felony in California? I was under the impression if you have a felony you cannot serve on jury duty. And if the answer is no you can’t what do I need to do to settle the situation with the courts?
SB 310 changes California law on felons serving as jurors, effective 1/1/2020.
People with felony convictions are now eligible to serve on juries, UNLESS they are:
- Incarcerated in any prison or jail,
- Currently on parole, postrelease community supervision, felony probation, or mandatory supervision for the conviction of a felony,
- Currently required to register as a sex offender based on a felony conviction.
