It’s been a Year n 1 month ago that I left DG when the district manager literally stood in the door way to keep me from leaving when I told her I needed to leave that I wasn’t gonna stand there n let someone accuse of something I didn’t do when I was at a different store working. I asked to be properly trained n for a transfer due to the hostility in the store n it was refused at the time and for wages promised at the initiation of hiring I never received. I recently had to turn work away cause the store manager and district manager is slandering my name n I’m afraid I might lose my current job due dollar general saying these things that are not true n were never proved. I was scheduled to work by myself with no help and with no break or lunch breaks for over a 6 hour time frame on days, no breaks at all, store manager changing my time in the computer so he would t get in trouble for over time.
Alabama is an employment at-will state. You may try a cease and desist letter if a lawyer is interested in your claim.
Libel and slander are very difficult cases. If you were accused of shoplifting, then a shopkeeper likely has immunity from civil liability. I do not thing you will find a lawyer willing to take this case based on your narrative.
