Needed a doctor's note for work for anxiety attacks. Sent it to Corporate as instructed. found out through co-workers, said note & diagnosis was being discussed on the floor of our customer service dept. between our corporate HR liaison & my manager. A co-worker actually came up to me and told me she was "sorry you're going through menopause"
I was appalled! This is no small company - its a major oil company on the northeast coast
See the corporate party to whom the note went to, to find out the corporation's rules in manners like these. There are probably rules that were not followed. What are the consequences? If you are not satisfied you need to seek a lawyer in the state where this happened.
I am sorry to hear of your issue. There are multiple internal corporate rules and policies regarding the protection of personal medical health information. If there has been a breach in this process, you may have a viable grievance. By sending a timely email to management, you can initiate this process. Best of luck- Brandon L. Wyatt
