5 year old and newborn (half siblings) taken from their mother by CPS. newborn born addicted to suboxone. sent home with mother. follow up with CPS, they remove the mother from the household. the 5 year old goes with his biological father and grandparents (the 5 year old is my little cousin.) newborn left with mother's brother. i believe that the brother is still a heroin addict. and he's getting help with the baby from his bio- dad, who is an alcoholic - the man also didn't take care of his own children when their mother overdosed and passed away. the children stayed in foster care, from what i understand. i don't feel that this baby is safe in their custody. i'm just wondering if there's something i can do to help? i want the baby in a SAFE, stable, loving environment. i am more than willing to care for the infant - even if it's only temporarily. is there a way to gain gardianship if i'm not related to the mother of father of the infant? and if it is possible, what steps do i have to take to do so? thank you in advance for any and all answers you share with me. i appreciate it.
