Last night the light fixture in my kitchen started leaking. I called the emergency line who told me that it would be maybe tomorrow before he could come out. I think water and electric could cause a fire and I am scared to stay in the house. Is there anyway I can get them to come fix this or am I just stuck sleeping and maybe a fire breaks out.
Advise the landlord as to the precarious situation and see if he/she is willing to come and repair the situation. Does your lease make reference to these types of repairs and who is responsible for handling same? Speak with your landlord and see what can be done. Good luck to you.

yes you do have a problem: and the first one has nothing to do with what lawyers can do quickly....we cannot fix the leak (you could shut down the electricity to the room of the kitchen...but what do I know? nothing in that area.)...write and call the landlord, of course...and if the landlord delays???? that will not get it fixed...pay for the fix and deduct from your rent...that may be cheaper and quicker than a lawyer trying to run into court and trying to get the court to order the fix....how about public services??? they can come in and deal with a hazardous condition and charge back the landlord....
