You and some other children (if any others) will have to help out. You need to have an in person consultation with an experienced mortgage foreclosure defense and bankruptcy attorney. The lenders all have attorneys, and the only way that your case will be taken seriously by them is by retaining an experienced mortgage foreclosure defense attorney. The defenses to mortgage foreclosure in MI are much more limited than in many other states. There are numerous options that are available to you, but only a complete review of all documents by an attorney will enable you to receive the correct advice. Use AVVO's Find a Lawyer tool to select a qualified attorney. Good luck.

Chapter 13 can be an option if your father has regular income (such as a paycheck, pension income, social security, etc). Also, does he have substantial equity in the house? He could file a Ch. 13 and sell the house if there is significant equity. Contact a local attorney for a consultation.
