My ex-husband has his disability from VA. I am the caregiver for our son. Can the son get any cash benefits from VA through his father? The son is in his thirties.
I can't answer for the VA, but if the father is receiving Social Security Disability or Retirement, and if your child was disabled before he was 22 (and it can be proven now) as per SS definititions, then your child may be eligible for SSD under the father's work record. Also, if the son is disabled, he may be eligible for SSD on his own record if he worked somewhat and if not, he can apply for SSI which doesn't require a work record.
