a friend of mine is living in a 4 bedroom 1 bath with her boyfriend, their child, her mom, brother and sister in law. they are killing themselves working crazy hours trying to save up and find their own place. but it is going to take atleast another year maybe 2. she worries herself sick at the thought of losing custody of her child because she feels there's too many people in the house, and if something ever happened and dcf were involved for some reason she would lose custody of her child for unsuitable living conditions since there are 5 adults and a child, also the house is slightly run down and their landlord won't do anything about it. I have been trying to find her a list of suitable living conditions online but I can't find anything. was hoping someone could help.
The standard for removing a child is abuse, abandonment, or neglect. Not every child has the luxury of their own room or even bed. If the child is being properly cared for, fed, clothed, loved, and the home is clean, has running water, electricity, food, other life necessities your friend should not worry.
