I am in US on H1B visa and am planning to sponsor my parent's visitor visa to US. I noticed before applying for visitor visa that name of my father on my passport is (Jayantibhai) spelled differently in my father's passport (Jayantilal). It is just two different way of stating the same name in India.
Question : Is it fine to go ahead and apply for my father's visitor visa with the name mis-match ? What extra care shall I take ? any extra documents to be presented at time of interview (if everything goes well) ? OR shall my father get a new passport with name matching as per my passport and then apply for visitor visa ?
Thanks for your help and guidance.
if the mistake is in your passport instead of his passport, you should try to amend it, however you can prove it is the same name with a copy of your birth certificate and his birth certificate and passport.
