We had a discussion about an expensive SDG&E bill being expensive. I tried to let him pay the amount he used but he insisted into pay half of the amount, so we made that agreement. When it came time to pay he confronted me in an aggressive behavior and was yelled that i was stealing money from him into trying to pay more then he was suppose to. Even though I payed for the full amount of the bill (which I have proof) and maybe a week or two later he gave me a small amount of his usage (breaking the half-half verbal agreement) So technically i did not steal any money from him. But now he is going around towards his friends, loved ones and the apartment management saying that I am a thief. i would like to know if he is breaking anything as well as what i can do. Thank you in advance.
Yes, but without damages, a defamation lawyer could cost you thousands more than you recover, but you may want to have a local lawyer send him a cease and desist letter. Avvo has a great lawyer finder tool to locate an attorney close to your home. Good luck.
